🗺️ - Day 55 & 56 - Osaka to London
My flight out of Osaka airport was at 17.15 but I needed to check out from the hotel by 11am. I could leave my main bag at the hotel until I actually left Shinsaibash—that's the name of the area where my hotel was—but I still didn't want to move about too much.
To pass time I just went to a cafe for couple of hours. I was very quaint, didn't seem very traditional Japanese, but everyone else in there looked local.
Then came lunch time so I went off to find a sushi place. I wanted to have sushi one last time before leaving Japan. I found a place not too far away.
It worked in the exact same way as the place I went to with Kouta's parents a couple weeks before. Orders needed to be placed on the tablet in front of the seat, then your order would come along the conveyor belt a few seconds later—and I really do mean seconds, they're always incredibly efficient.
Around 2, I took the local train to get to the airport. I got there with plenty of time to spare to avoid any unnecessary stress.
While I was waiting in front of my gate after security, a man came up to me to ask me a few questions for a questionnaire. He was an official person from the Japanese government and I didn't really have anything better to do, so I took a few minutes to answer his questions. They were only regular questionnaire questions, so about what I did during my stay, what kind of place I stayed in, what means of transport, if I bought anything while I was here...
At the end, I got rewarded with a cute little cat figurine—not sure what I'm supposed to do with it to be honest.
The seats in the plane were fairly confortable, though for an 11h40min journey, they do start to feel a bit hard after a while. Luckily, I didn't have anyone next to me, so I had a whole seats for myself, allowing me to lie down mildly comfortably.
I was also pleasantly surprised to be served 2 meals, some snacks and tea throughout the flight!
I had a 2h45min stop in Abu Dhabi, before my last flight to London. I must say, this airport felt very luxurious. First through the architecture, but also the decoration and sort of shops present.
I only had to wait, so I located my boarding gate, then sat down for a drink. I always like to know where I need to go before sitting down somewhere, so I know exactly how long I can sit down for, and I don't have to walk or look through the airport for long right before boarding.
I got to London right on time, collected my bag, and queued for a bit at the automatic passport control gates.
Of course, the day I was there was the specific day they were operating maintenance on the tube station in Heathrow, so I had to take the Elizabeth Line to the train station, and complete my journey home.
